Deborah Adcock

Dr. Adcock was born and raised in Victoria, Texas, and graduated in the top ten of her class at Victoria High School.  She attended Texas A&M University on an academic scholarship, and then attended medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas.  After obtaining her medical degree, she went on to an Anesthesiology Residency at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After three years, she attended University of Texas at Houston for a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Anesthesiology.  Dr. Adcock then went on to be an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

She moved quickly up to the Director of Cardiac Anesthesia at that institution and went on to start their first Cardiac Transplant team.  She ran the program until moving to Shreveport in 1989 to create the Anesthesia service for the Cardiac Transplant unit at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center.  And there, she met and married her husband.Dr. Adcock attempted to have a child rather late in life and was exposed to powerful steroidal medications which caused some unfortunate problems that led to chronic illnesses.  And these endocrine and immunological problems are not well understood by current medical practice.  The little that is understood by research scientists has not filtered down into everyday medical practice.

Dr. Adcock first had to manage her own problems.  So, she fell back upon her background in physiology and pharmacology to help her.  And then, she began her Integrative Medicine practice as an interface between the discoveries she found in the literature of medical research and the endocrine and immunological imbalances caused by aging, diet and chronic inflammation.
